Bio
Nicole Anushka Hewamudalige has obtained her Master of Arts in Communication and Sciences and Disorders from Western Washington University (WWU). She obtained her Undergraduate Degree with a Double Major in Speech Sciences and Psychology from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She has worked in both the Surrey School District and more recently (and is currently employed) in the Richmond School District. She has also worked at the Center for Child Development completing speech and language assessments with preschool children. She is member of good standing with Speech-Language Audiology of Canada (SAC) and the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of BC. In addition, she holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Speech Sciences and Audiology Program at the University of British Columbia (UBC) within the Faculty of Medicine. Nicole is highly collaborative and thoroughly enjoys working with teams (students, parents, teachers, counsellors administrators and educational assistants) in providing the best therapy possible for her students and clients. Given that she works in various elementary and secondary schools, she knows the importance of working as a member of a well functioning team. She is also very familiar with the grade level expectations at the varying grade levels from K-12. She firmly believes that being an effective communicator directly relates to one’s quality of life. The most rewarding part of her job is seeing her client's progress and being able to witness their confidence soar! Looking forward to working with you!
