Your role and responsibilities

Follows speech and language services program policy and procedures to implement services to all cases presented. Participates in delivering Speech Pathology for the office by:

  • Utilizing screening criteria to identify individuals with potential communication disorders for further assessment. This may be carried out on individuals referred to the clinic or in the community.
  • Assessing, through examination, diagnostic testing, etc., the nature and severity of a communication disorder
  • Planning an appropriate treatment program, including short- and long-term goals and selecting/designing appropriate therapeutic procedures.
  • Conducting a program to rehabilitate the communication disorder, reassessing and modifying therapy as required.
  • Initiating and participating in conferences with parents, physicians, teachers, agency representatives and others involved in the development of the therapeutic program; working with others to coordinate therapy with classroom activities and home environment.

Administers the Speech/Language Pathology Program for the service area by:

  • Following assessment, determining severity of communication status to establish treatment scheduling (the type, number and priority of clients) to most efficiently and effectively meet specified treatment objectives. This function is coordinated with the audiologist as necessary.
  • Accumulating, maintaining, analyzing and summarizing data for own program functions in order to determine program effectiveness.
  • Serves the community in an advisory/educator role by interpreting the Speech and Language Program to other agencies in the community, informing the community of services offered and of the importance of early identification, intervention and prevention programs.

What you need to apply:

  • Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Speech Language Practitioner.
  • Graduation from University of recognized standing with Masters Degree in field of Speech-Language Pathology.

Required Qualifications:
