Bio
Victoria Speech & Language Centre is now open in Langford on the Westshore! At Victoria Speech and Language Centre, Carla Willock brings 10 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist to serve her client’s needs. She is committed to helping her clients maximize their communication potential in a positive and welcoming environment. Carla has been practicing in speech language pathology since 2007. She worked in Vancouver at UBC Hospital and in private practice until recently moving back ‘home’ to Victoria in 2015. She has extensive experience working with children of all ages with an Autism diagnosis in 1:1 therapy and in small social communication groups. Carla has worked with many families with children with various speech and language delays and enjoys having parents involved in the sessions to maximize carry-over at home. She specializes in treating fluency disorders (stuttering) and has furthered her education in this area by taking several specialized courses and through involvement in a Vancouver-based Fluency Special Interest Group. In her 8 years at UBC hospital, Carla gained broad experience assessing and treating adults with swallowing disorders due to conditions such as a stroke, progressive neurological disease, or brain injury. She has worked with many clients recovering from a stroke or brain injury to regain functional speech, language and communication. Recently Carla has been working with the Early Intervention Program at Queen Alexandra Children’s Centre servicing children 0-5 yrs of age and their families.
