North Vancouver, BC, Canada
I absolutely love working with the infant, toddler, and preschool populations (early intervention), particularly language delay and articulation, and have primarily worked with youngsters and their families in both the United States and Canada for over 25 years. I typically conduct therapy sessions in the child's home, as this is a familiar, comfortable, naturalistic setting for the child which fosters generalization of skills and also allows me to provide strategies to empower parents to facilitate their child's communication skills during their everyday activity and routines. Sessions may also be able to be conducted in the child’s daycare or preschool setting or a combination of home and preschool. Toys, games, crafts, and books (which promote both early literacy and speech/language skills) are used for play-based therapy; after all, children learn through play! I believe that each child is unique and can learn and have fun while doing it. Let me motivate your child, bring out their best and help them to feel proud about their accomplishments! Past experience volunteering in the NICU as a baby cuddler (with premature infants) at BC Children’s Hospital gave me the opportunity to learn from other disciplines as well as impart my knowledge of how important communication is in its many forms: through singing, reading, talking, and touch.

Other Professional Practice / Service Information
I carry and maintain Certification from both ASHA (in the U.S.) and SAC (Canada) and am registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC). I serve families on the North Shore (North Vancouver, West Vancouver), in their homes and in some cases a child's preschool or daycare setting (or, a combination of both!). Short term contracts to serve the preschool population in underserved and/or rural areas of BC also considered. Additionally, I can provide therapy or consultation visits/parent training on a short term basis; this may be a good option for you and your child if, for example, your child is put on a wait list. This may help get you and your child started as I work with your child and provide you with strategies, tips, and suggestions to begin the process of stimulating speech and language skills. The consultative model might also be a good choice if your child has been seen previously by a speech pathologist but you would like a couple of sessions as a refresher or to ensure he/she is maintaining their skills.**Currently (as of mid-April 2019) my regular caseload is full, however I am available for consultation only appointments (1-2 maximum) or speech screenings through June. full *Note: I do not provide services over the summer months (July/August). I WILL BE ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS for a September 2019 start for regular therapy appointments. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 778-867-0395 if you would like to book an initial appointment.
